New Mercides Benz 1.8-litre turbo engine not only makes sense over the old 2.5 V6 but also against today's 3.0 six-pot. After the German launch the latest E-class in E300 form in Thailand late last year, a second changes now join it at Thai assembly lines in the mask of E250 CGI. While the E300 badge easily

means the 3.0-litre V6 petrol power, the E250 is a bit vague. The E250 comes with a brand new 204hp 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder unit and is design to replace the old E230 which came with a normally aspirated 2.5-litre V6 producing the

same amount of peak power. The E250 is priced at B4.299m - B700k less than the E300 and B150k less than old E230. Despite coming with the same Avantgarde trim, the E250 does not get the navigation system or DVD-compatible audio system as in the E300. Turbochargers are beneficial when it come to usable power in real-world driving conditions, and the E250 is no exception. With 310Nm maximum torque coming at just 2,000rpm, the E250 is effortless to drive in both city and highway driving.
